It all started with two exceptional artists : José Reyes and Manitas de Plata, who introduced the culture of the Camargue’s gipsyies to the world.

At the request of Salvador Dali, They carried the words of the Camargue to UNESCO

After it was formed by the great gipsy singer José Reyes, the band Los Reyes had several transformations: in 1987 the new generation took control and publicized the passionate music of the Gipsies to the general public. The sons of José, Nicolas, Canut, Paul and their cousins Antonico and Manuel, Tonino and Diego Baliardo, and a step-brother of Nicolas, Djelul Bouchiki (Chico) travelled through the entire world and brought their luggage and ingredients to create an irrepressible fiesta gitane: enchanting rhythms, pure emotions and a passion to live.

The group separated in 1988 : Antonico and his brother Tony, Canut and his brother Pachaï as well as Manuel Reyes stayed together under their original title of Los Reyes. The remaining members birthed a second band under the name ‘Gypsy Kings’ (In French Gitan means gypsy, the name of the Reyes family means ‘kings’ in Spanish).

During years the members from both groups changed and the original Los Reyes band welcomed new talent, that are supplied from the family circles of the Reyes.
